British comic god Warren Ellis (known for super-techno series such as
Is writing a new series called NEXTWAVE. What is NEXTWAVE, you ask? It is quite simply the funniest comic being published right now. In the comic itself, NEXTWAVE is a group of 5 individuals assembled by the Highest Anti-Terrorism Effort, aka H.A.T.E. Which in itself is led by a complete madman by the name of Dirk Anger.
The team's members are all D list characters from Marvel's past. The leader is Monica Rambeau who has formerly gone by the name Captain Marvel (no not that one) and was during one point was the leader of the Avengers. The funny thing is when she was removed from the Avengers and replaced by Captain America the writer at the time decided that she needed to be shown as completely incompetant. Which means this page is a pretty accurate representation of their treatment of her.
The others are; Tabitha Smith aka Meltdown or Boom Boom, Aaron Stack the Machine Man (a self aware android who has been redone in the style of Bender from Futurama,) Elsa Bloodstone who comes from a family of monster hunters and The Captain aka Captain **** who is pretty much the only hero who is original for the series.
The series runs in two issue story arcs. So issue 7 that just came out last week is the start of a new story. Marvel is supposed to be releasing a trade collection of the first six issues soon, so if you want to start reading it now is the best time.
Check it out its exactly what it sounds like. You take an image of yourself (or whoever you want to mock) and then upload it through their java applet. After some mucking about you can then transform your picture using the different settings. I started with this one:
And ended up with this:
Using the El Greco transform tool.
I just read one of the best webcomics ever. Its name is 5ideways and it is about the world going wrong. A truly multimedia experience it combines music, sound and animation to do things you really don't expect. Despite its short length, its still ongoing and doesn't have a regular update schedule, it is well worth checking out.
So CHECK IT OUT

What magazines do you subscribe to, and why?
None.
I used to have a couple but the internet is much, much more usefull. I mean, why read something that is a couple of months old by the time you get it when you can use the internet and get up to the minute information?
The only thing magazines usually have that the internet doesn't is exclusive interviews and I really don't read those to begin with.
I dyed my hair black this weekend as you can see from my new picture. When I took it I discovered that I have a really big head. Seriously, its fucking huge look at it!
The only problem I forsee is when I go back to work tomorrow everyone is going to make a big damn deal about it. My coworkers treat me like a child sometimes, its very annoying. Yes, I am the youngest guy at my company, but I am the assistant supervisor. Bah!
And you should too. Right now the two major comic publishers (DC and Marvel) are putting out some of the best written and drawn books in the history of comic books. The only real problem is that everyone feels the need to be in the middle of huge meta events so the books aren't very new reader friendly. Oh well.
In my opinion the very best writer out there right now is a Scotsman named Grant Morrison. He is the master of magical realism with a dash of drugs. Right now he is almost exclusively with DC. He has been writing some of their major events like 52 and Seven Soldiers. If you want to read some of his best work I would suggest picking up
Both really excellent books.
